Region 4-5a was ridiculous. Watched it in person. Kids down in Houston know how to race

does anyone know who is publishing the official list of callups this year? is it UIL or TISCA? Thanks!

It would be nice to get to "race" at the University of Houston Pool or Texas A & M or the University of Texas pool. As a professional coach, I feel the swimmers in the Regions that have the great opportunity to swim their Region Meets in those super-fast pools, have advantage over many of us at other locations. The UIL call-up system, with Region Meets at various locations (not always equal) is an imperfect system.
But, life is not always fair.

Which Regional meet was at the University of Houston? Which one was at Texas A&M? Which one was the University of Texas? Are you a professional high school coach?

Region 4-5A was at U of H. There were no region meets at A&M or UT. If you swam in a heat of 100 free with 8 guys going 46, are you really at an advantage over someone in a good natatorium with clean water? I think not. It may be a faster pool, but having to race all out on Friday just to make A finals does not put you at an any advantage. There are tons of examples of All-State top 16 swimmers that don't make A final. Advantage.. relaxing on Friday is an advantage.

The UIL has released their list on their website.

Region 5-5A was actually held at UT. Everyone who made it on the call up list from that region should consider themselves lucky. Many of them wouldn't have made it if they weren't swimming at the number 1 pool in Texas. Feel awful for those in other regions not qualified dude to unfair advantages.

Region 5 swam at the woodlands Conroe pool. That's a top notch facility. The austin district is in region 4.

My bad, I did not realize that there was a regional meet at UofH this year. That does seem a little unfair compared to the likes of Don Cook Natatorium and Pearland Natatorium.

When I saw these times, I looked at my wife, and said "wow, I can't believe my eyes! The 100 fly, for the first time in four years, was slower than a 51.49. For FOUR YEARS IN A ROW the time it took to qualify for state was a 51.4. and now its a 51.5. Can't believe it, should be a great state meet!!
