If you make every game a life and death
proposition, you're going to have problems.
For one thing, you'll be dead a lot.

2009 4A Call-Up Numbers by Region

Okay, I broke down and totalled up the 4A numbers myself.

The 5A post has generated plenty of comments. Read it (and them) here.

By the way, this will be the tenth 4A state meet. See results of the first (2000) here.

Region # - Girls/Boys/Total

I - 1/2/3
II - 1/2/3
III - 29/36/65
IV - 7/10/17
V - 23/10/33
VI - 13/5/18
VII - 12/22/34
VIII - 2/1/3

The three weakest regions had a combined total of nine (9) call-ups out of 176.

2009 5A Call-Up Numbers by Region

Region # - Girls/Boys/Total

I - 1/2/3
II - 16/20/36
III - 0/0/0
IV - 30/32/62
V - 15/27/42
VI - 1/0/1
VII - 25/7/32
VIII - 0/0/0

Four weakest regions had a combined total of four (4) call-ups out of the 176 headed for Austin.

The rule change* produced results proponents said it would.

Thanks to ML for putting this together!

Now, who's going to do the 4A?

*The old UIL rule placed strict limits on the number of call-ups from each region

contradict other philosophers.

After a disaster, investigators use data from the "black box" to piece together what might have led up to the incident. Sometimes the data's incomplete.

Experts have been studying a stopwatch for clues. Here's what's on it:

Split 1:

0:00'50"11

Split 2:

0:01'43"50
0:00'53"39

STOP:

0:01'57"57

Investigators are puzzled by the lack of data after the 1:57.57 mark.

They agree that something catastrophic must have occurred in the 0:14.07 following Split 2.

They're asking anyone with video evidence to come forward in hopes of finding the missing piece of the puzzle.

Quote of the Day

Sharing is the essence of teaching. It is, I have
come to believe, the essence of civilization...
Without it, the imagination is but the echo of
the self, trapped in a soundproof chamber,
reverberating upon itself until it
is spent in exhaustion or futility.

Make it a rule of life never to regret and never to

Quote of the Day

While I don't condone his conduct, I am a
teammate and fan. Unlike many fair-
weather people, I am sticking by him.
If my wife and I can help him in any way,
we will. I believe he will grow from this and
be a better person, role model and teammate.
