Maybe we need a 6A division with Regions II, IV, and V.

Just thinking out quiet.

What do you think, PHATman?

Wow what a great idea. Those three regions were "smokin" fast. This causes the overall pickup times to be really fast. 4:37 doesn't get picked up, 59 breast.. Let's get a committe together and propose that to the UIL, it will be easy.....In football, they have two state champions in each division, why not swimming?

if the uil were to ever go to a seventh division, would there be a push to split swimming into three divisions?

i'd rather see us take twenty-four to austin before we talk about another split.

yes, that might make the prelims a bit long (add half again to each timeline), but finals wouldn't be any different.

i think we're still leaving home some pretty talented kids. it's not just those fast swimmers who are missing out. heck, some of the 3rd place divers are pretty danged good. seems a shame they aren't able to make the trip to austin.

Our Region had 4 GREAT guy divers in our region. The 4th place guy was second at state last year...

Lets move swimming state to a qualifying time like other states do.

24 would be part one to the answer.

Alternating 4A/5A between UT and TAMU would be part two.

Is UIL still an arm of the UT VP office? That would kill parts one -and- two.

we've thrown a lot out there.

talk of 6 or 7 classifications has been around a while. i think we could actually see them go to six in our lifetime.

talk of an alternate site has been out there a while, too.

when that's suggested, someone else wants alternate weekends.

texas won't go with time standards in our lifetime.

"texas won't go with time standards in our lifetime."

Probably right on that one.

"Why, hellfire, if we do that in SWIMMING, then TRACK and all them other sports will want bigger meets and more qualifiers, and that's just stoopid."

Ummm, you mean like the top 4 teams go to football (and all them other sports) playoffs?

Yeah. Right.

back in my day, we didn't worry about 4a/5a/6a. We just jumped in the pool together and competed, then the fastest guy won.

Too many regions/classifications starts to get out of hand. You start putting asterisks by peoples names when they win. Yea they were a 4a champ, but were they the fastest? Or not only did they win 4a, they would have won 5a/6a, with no recognition of that.

If it's about big schools getting all the fast swimmers, I say to you, coach a little harder to get your guys faster. If it's about the numbers, recruit a little harder. It can be done. I've seen it and have been a part of it.

We were being sarcastic....with a little hyperbole. We have tried to get more fast kids to state, if one way won't work, you try another. We are all in favor of coaching hard and fast swimming.
