Wow! I used to teach a faculty exercise class there once a week for a while in 79-80 (the other 4 days were huffing and puffing at a gym in the west side of the stadium, place called Bellmont Hall). It sure wasn't anything like that then, lol! Gone, I notice, are the deep-end diving boards, site of some Longhorn hex rituals (yes, H-e-x!) performed during the old SWC days. Remind me to tell you about it one day, and a retaliatory act carried out by me, a Longhorn from this area, and the son of a presidential candidate!

This was the pool when I went to UT. We played all our UT Water Polo Games here. We got to plat a couple a year at the Swim Center (usually A&M).

I blocked many shots in this pool (and took a few to the face) as a goalie.

It does bring back memories, however it didn't have windows when I went there.

A side bard (note): The NCAA Championships were held in this pool in 1950 (I think that was the year).

Thanks for the memories.

i love the older pools. i wish we'd combine our knowledge of constructing pools with the beauty that used to go into designing them. of course it comes down to money. concrete and steel are the cheap way to go. architects are partly to blame because they can't think outside the box - the box they call a pool...
