Preliminary TISCA All-State lists are here
Please look at the TAPPS list and explain:
Why are athletes from Homeschool Christian Youth Association (HCYA) included?
This is not a school!
Rather, it's an athletic organization for kids who attend neither public nor private schools.
I'm all for folks who want to educate their children at home. If public or private schools don't work for your child, that's an option for y'all.
We strive to provide a "level playing field" for our student/athletes, right?
It's increasingly "out of level" in recent years, isn't it?*
Do you support placing athletes in our All-State lists that don't attend a school?
If yes, would you feel the same if your athlete lost a spot on those lists?
Should HCYA athletes be included on our Academic All-State list?**
*Have you noticed that charter schools are dominating some UIL sports? How about the guy who won a state championship in girls rasslin'?
**Before you answer that, recall that these kids' grades are determined by their parents...
I agree. TISCA was founded for "interscholastic swimming." Home schoolers (and their "supposed" coaches)" have no business in this organization. As for the charter schools, how can a school with under 150 students win a state title and have 20-30 "elite" swimmers on their team? Things have certainly changing in scholastic swimming and diving and it is certainly not for the better.
