Let's look at the numbers, shall we?
2012 400 I.M. champs' splits:
Ryan Lochte: :55.02 - 1:01.84 - 1:09.67 - :58.65
Ye Shiwen: 1:02.19 - 1:09.54 - 1:18.02 - :58.68
Some are wondering how the women's gold medalist was able to get it home just as fast as the men's.
It's hard to blame them, isn't it?
Want to check out another set of splits?
Camille Muffat's 400 free: :57.83 - 1:01.67 - 1:01.17 - 1:00.78
Ye Shiwen got it home two full seconds faster than the world's fastest freestyler?
She managed a hands to hand hundred free after fly, back, and breast legs that was :02.10 faster than Muffat's feet to hand hundred?
By golly buton I really think you may be on to something here.
ReplyDeletesome might say p.e.d.'s are involved.
ReplyDeletethose who don't suspect any funny business should at the least question why in the heck her coaches didn't swim her in 200, 400, & 800 free...
Some people just can't wrap their heads around the fact that a 16-year-old Chinese girl, Ye Shiwen, beat the almighty American Ryan Lochte in the last 50m freestyle leg in 400 meter IM. Here comes a little help.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Lochte won the event in London, his last split of 29.10 sec suck big time. In fact four swimmers in that final beat him in the last 50m: Yuya Horihata (27.87), Thomas Fraser-Holmes (28.35), Michael Phelps (28.44), Kosuke Hagino (28.52). Guess what, all four of them were faster than Shiwen, who finished with a 28.93 split.
Shiwen's 28.93 fell between the last 50m split in the world record of women's 200m freestyle (28.60, Federica Pellegrini) and 1500m freestyle (29.27, Kate Ziegler, a textile best, no less). It's definitely top notch for women, but not unheard-of.
So hear me out. Yes, Lochte finished the last 50m freestyle behind Ye Shiwen. But congratulations to him for finishing 0.17 second ahead of Kate Ziegler, after she swam 1.45 kilometers. He should hold his head high.
And by the way, if gossiping like a girl about other girls helps you win gold medal for US team in 4x100m freestyle relay or win medal in men's 200m freestyle, go for it, Ryan.
How about genetic tampering? George Block questioned that potential 5 yrs ago on a visit to China before the Bejing Olympics. He noted high-level female swimmers, just on the cusp of potential greatness, slight of build, not like most international high-performing females. At that time, he mentioned a number of 12 to 14 yr olds that seemed to be of another physical description, that were doing some tremendous things in the pool. Probably no way to discover if genetic tampering has been done at the mitochondrial-level, but it would not be surprising, given the "state-driven" methodology of the Communist
ReplyDeleteChinese, as concerns athletics and the Olympics.
It is a precept of Communist ideology that "whatever advances Communism is the TRUTH!" That is stated in the Communist Manifesto. There are no absolutes, as concerns truth, only what is "true" to advance the Communist ideology. That might also explain the ability of the current Chinese long-distance male swimmer to be able to do such prodigious swimming in the 1500 free.
Remember, the Communist Chinese DO NOT adhere to the same right-wrong standards that most of the rest of us do.
Just my opinion...

anonymous,
ReplyDeletecompare 100's, and not just in the i.m.'s. ye's last 100 of the i.m. was nearly as fast as schmitt's was just now in the 200 free.
something just doesn't add up there. a kid that can close like that needs to be on their 800 free relay, and the 200, 400, & 800 individual free events.
kevin,
you sayin' ye be a he?
No, just the possibility of DNA tampering/improvements at the mitochondrial level. Not my hypothesis, something from an article by George Block over 5 yrs ago.
