Call-Ups Posted

The UIL has posted qualifiers for the 2012 state championships.

4A Qualifiers

5A Qualifiers

These are not necessarily psych sheets, though.

There could be a difference between "qualifiers" and "competitors".

It is still up to coaches to enter/scratch their athletes and relays, so there could be changes.

If a coach desides to pull an athlete from an individual event to speed up a relay, the psych sheet would be different than what's posted.

Also, if an athlete's academic eligibility changes, he/she might not be able to compete after the close of the school day on Friday. That would depend on the school's calendar and bell schedule.

would like an answer to the tie question posed on a previous post - when two kids tie from different regions, how it is determined which has the higher seed? Alphabet?

Correct me if I am wrong. But if there is a tie for 1st both make State and then there are only 7 Call ups. Region 6-4A has a tie in 200 Free and one the Co winners is not listed. Matt Wall FRSW is not listed a qualifier. So I guess the UIL did not have enough time??

  3. ties:

ties for region champion - and automatically advancing athlete/relay - are broken by prelim times.

in the event of a tie for 8th call-up, prelim time is once again used as tie-breaker.

once competitors are put into computer for actually seeding meet, i believe it's just done randomly by the program.

remember, the qualifiers posted on the uil site may not necessarily be the same as the competitors in austin. there can be changes made and the lists are not being called psych sheets.

So what is the exact rule regarding swimming someone in 5 events at regional's? I know their 5th event is DQ'ed but what about their other swims?

The reason I'm asking is that the UIL said 5 regions in 5A submitted results that had swimmers in 5 events.

  5. 5th swim - often 400 free relay - is dq'ed. other four swims count.

5 regions? Sounds like the UIL is confused.
