Reezultz Comment

Dazed and Confused makes a good point with his/her comment concerning district results (see Reezultz):

DAZED AND CONFUSED said…

I am borred over the weekend and decide to look over District results and what to do I see....only half of the district results posted? Please help me understand why some results are out their for everyone to see, while others get to hide theirs and not post?

I think we've been down this road before. Some district results are submitted by the meet director and posted, making them available to those scouting. Others are held back and remain hidden until they're sent to TISCA after the region meet.

There's no UIL rule stating that district results must be posted online, is there?

Whats it matter.. its not like your gonna be able to change a kids event. What are you gonna do, tell a kid they need to work hard in practice this week cause old boy across town went a second faster than them? Or possibly put to much pressure on the kid, and they fold before they even swim? You cant change their times, events, seeding, or lanes they are in, so there is really no scouting. I mean other than relays how can you work your "strategy" AND on top of that a lot of the kids aren't even tapered yet, and since all kids taper different you really have no idea what to expect. Plus the schools competitive in the region in the relays (big schools) don't even swim their real swimmers in those relays until regional finals. If the results are up cool, we can all look and guess what we "think is gonna happen" But just cause your kid is positioned 1st or last in the seeding, what exactly does that guarantee you? I think someone is either a little "overly competitive" parent or coach who just needs to chill. Come Wednesday all psyche sheets will be posted, and hell it might be better instead of preparing you kid all week for something you should've been doing all year, they'll only get the crap scared out of them for 2 days. CHILL

  2. it may be hard to imagine, but relays do get dq'ed at the district level. we tell kids over and over to have safe starts and just get the relay out, but it doesn't always get through.

anyone have a state-bound relay that didn't get out of district this year? anyone else want to know about it?

The easiest way to find out who has done what, when, and where is to compare results from last year to this year. Compare what kind of drops kids have from district to regional...that tells you what kind of coach/sponsor you are dealing with, and if they know what they are doing with their kids...The biggest thing about this is the relays. Just as was pointed out, who has DQ'd, or about making an educated guess about what a region has and what relays schools will try to stack a relay for. It is not about stressing kids out, its about having the prepared. Bottom line is that if results are posted, all results need to be posted.

i just read what I wrote again, and first let me say I didn't mean to come off like it did. I understand the relay side to a point. But in my years of coaching in the state of Texas I know if you have a good enough medley relay to make state you probably have a 400frRelay good enough to make state too. The 200fr relay is the only real wild card out there. You could have a group of summer leaguers who could make state in that event. But there is a certain time standard, and that time standard is gonna go down with out all the "bs" suits this year. I'm saying if you have a girls team in 5A, your gonna have to go under 1:50.5, 1:39, and 3:36 to make the state meet. For the guys its 1:38.7, 1:28.5, and 3:15. There will always be those standards, and as coaches all we have to do is be confident in our relays regardless of what the other team might do. Now knowing that Cy-creeks 400 got DQ's yeah it tells you they are gonna go for the 200's, but your gonna know that the second the psyche sheets come out. There really is no way to tell how kids are gonna taper either, its impossible to even with the same formula with the same swimmers. A team like kingwood is always going to have good relays, all three of them. A team like Clements girls is where it gets interesting they have girls good enough for 2 relays. Which will they swim? Don't really know, but have confidence in what you think your kids can make it. Cause what if you swim the 400FR instead of the 200fr relay, and you don't make the 400relay but you could've still made it in the 200 if you kept your kids there? Doubts isn't a game we should put in the kids, pat em on the backs and say I believe this gives us the best shot!

Any team ever win all three relays at state? Since we don't have floswimming good a place as any for discussion.

and you won't know who was on the relays until after they swim. Relays are school entered and don't always show up on psyche sheet. And they will change again for state depending on if everyone makes 2 individuals.

You could easly guess where the coaches are gonna put their swimmers... Every team in this state is predictable. Just look at your region, who they have on their team and it plays out

Now here is an intersting situation if some regionals are postponed til sat and mon due to the weather there will be a good idea on what you have to go for a callup and could change relays

ok so what are woodlands, kingwood and plano's relays?

does kingwood split barber and jones on the MR/2 free like they did at regions same with the woodlands cooper/clifton or do they load the medleys. Plano will have three very strong relays even with splitting stubblefield/leonahrdt on the MR/2 free. they 4 free relay could be wicked fast with kingwood close behind

  13. if it's a coin flip right now, knowing what other regions go could mean relay changes for those in delayed region meets.

if coaches are confident in what they're doing, they'll stick with it.

knowing how we all feel about fair play, i'm sure all coaches will agree not to release any results from the earlier region meets, right?

    hahahahaha!

now there is a way to screw over the kids - prelims and finals in one day

First the Woodlands don't need to split any of the male relays.. I mean really come on they're all top 3 right now as they are. As for Kingwood, as it stands, the boys won't make any changes either. They wont stack a relay with Jones and Barber if all three relays can make state. Look at who they swam against at Regional s in the 400FR Relay, no one look at Barbers time and that'll tell you they can still drop 4.5sec even if he is the only one to drop time (which is unlikely) Now Plano's boys, they'd have to convinced they have a chance to win state for them not to go 200 and 400 FRR's. Look the boys are competitors, they're less than a 1/2 second from the 200FRR national record and 2.5 from the 400. It'll be a tough, but they will go the same way they did last year in all 3 relays. Even at that your argument at where to swim your swimmers in what relay, really doesn't make sense cause unless one of those schools relays DQ's at regional s all nine of the relays will make state. No question about that. If you need to see what the smaller schools are doing, just look a guarantee not to make state in the 400FRR prolly means there is a weak leg. (for girls probably a 56 for boys 51) For the 200MRelay just look at their middle strokes, and 200FRR is like what i said before its the only wild card because a bunch of summer league-rs could take that down.

Plano has a chance to win state if they get a couple of other guys in besides stubblefield. leonhardt and licon. like russell hunt or They have a sr sprinter in foster who has been 47 low and 21 low mid season and could swim any or all of the relays. That means stubblefield would not have to swim the 200FRR and they will still have 3 guys in the mid 20's one leading off. Kingwood put barber and jones on the 200FRR at districts it will be interesting if they do that at state or move Jones to the 400FRR to challange plano who was 306 at tisca. woodlands are real deep and can mix the relays as they see fit but even stacked they will have a problem staying with kingwood and Plano in the 400FRR

cypress creek could be a spoiler in these relays depending on if they load them at state.

button I bet you can't wait to be in 5A next year!
