USA Swimming Dumps WMG

A story by Tripp Mickle in Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal says USA Swimming (along with Track and Gymnastics) is dumping Wasserman Media Group.

The dissolution of the deal with WMG means USA Swimming will have to develop a new sponsorship sales strategy and digital strategy. On sponsorship sales, it will look to find new partners, which was something WMG had been responsible for, and complete renewals with Hilton Hotels, Conoco-Phillips, Myrtha Pools and AT&T. On the digital side, the organization has hired Andrew Silver from NBC as a senior online editor and plans to look for a new digital partner who can operate Swimnetwork.com.

“We’re a very good sports organization, and we’re good at content and we’re good at promotion in the swimming community, but building digital platforms is not what we do,” said Matt Farrell, USA Swimming’s chief marketing officer.

Read more here.

Getting rid of WMG is a good thing for our sport. It's time for USA Swimming to cut deals* that will maximize our exposure, even if that means the folks at the top have to settle for a little less dough...

I think y'all will enjoy the prelim vids - I really got a kick out of Garrett.

Had slight adds in finals, but I can't be prouder of how far Junior's come this year. Big thanks to his club coach, Cody. He had a 1.5 second drop in the 50 and 3.2 in the 100 from one h.s. season to the next.
